Saturday 3^rd July

8.30pm – 11.30pm

The intense glow from the flightless female glow worm is one of nature’s marvels. Local experts Trevor and Dilys Pendleton will be on hand to reveal some of the mysteries relating to these insects as you explore the forest by night. A gentle walk of approximately 2.5 miles will give you the best chance of seeing glow worms and maybe a bat or two. Please bring a torch and wear suitable footwear and clothing. Weather permitting, we should enjoy some close encounters with these fascinating creatures. Pre-booking is essential on 01623 823202.

 

Sunday 11^th July

Between 11am and 4pm

Come along to this FREE event and enjoy a gentle stroll around the ancient forest of Sherwood with our rangers and local insect experts Trevor and Dilys Pendleton. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of the rare Welsh Clearwing day flying moth; Sherwood Forest is one of only two sites in England where the moth has been recorded. The activities will be based in the centre with ‘Expeditions’ into the forest, leaving at regular intervals throughout the day. Please wear suitable clothing and don’t forget to cover up those legs!

Sunday 18^th July

10am start

Help the rangers look after Nottinghamshire’s only National Nature Reserve and at the same time have fun, learn new skills, meet new people and get fitter!

We’ll provide the tools, training and the all important tea and biscuits.

Meet at the visitor centre at 10am. Third Sunday of each month (excluding August)

(Not suitable for under 14s. 14-18 year olds must be accompanied by an adult)
